Occultism is generally connected into Satanism. Although the connection between these two is not at all like it is easily too unilaterally conceived, in certain level both of these isms are interconnected to each other – despite the fact that many so called Occultists and Satanists would like to deny this bond. One way to characterize this accommodating foundation of them would be to say, that in modern times both of them still belong to the shadow of a common human being, to a forbidden and denied side that is easily populated with phobias, and links to the incomprehensible matter of psychology with its traumas and other personal problems. On the other hand it can be said that Satan, when conceived from one aspect as a charge of “evolutional resistance” – of a dark and yet unanalysed energy of life – is naturally and especially connected to occultism.
Christian religious sects are naturally completely wrong when assuming magical power and occult knowledge to be Satanic in itself, in some kind of moralistic meaning, just as they consider Satan to be the personification of absolute evil. Occultism and Satanism are interconnected, but in a very more profound way that is usually conceived.
Traditional Occultism (characterized in its most clear form by groups such as The Theosophical Society and Golden Dawn) generally distances and denies all connections with Satanism – a mistake that is founded in a wrong kind of conception of Satanism. In modern times Satanism is a term that is not useful to conceive it in a unilateral way; dozens of different Satanist organizations and countless individuals who think themselves as Satanists, are a proof for the fact that no orthodox Satanism exists, but multiple philosophical views (as much as totally un-philosophical, based on faith alone) can be labelled under its title. The focus of these multilateral views of life is still clearly directed towards occultism, towards the area in which humane knowledge confronts an abstract and spiritual charge still unknown to public science and culture.
From the foundational views of Occultism many if not all are such, that the public confession of them can make an individual to look like a mad-man or a complete idiot; this is solely because stretched so far away from the mediocre and mundane, occult state of things cannot be discussed neutrally anywhere else than in the company of like-minded people confessing more or less the same founding ideas, who know enough of the theories of occultism and are so able to see behind the facade of madness. Naturally this gives one explanation to the name of the ideology itself (in latin, “occultus” means hidden). What are those wonderful principles of occultism that a normal sane human being cannot consider to be serious enough to be an object of more profound study and contemplation? To these belong for example, ideas of an absoluteness of existence that replaces the traditional theistic conception of a personal god; numerous worlds permeating and interconnecting each other, of which’ amount, assembly and different hierarchical forms in the evolution of mankind and nature in totality can be studied and understood; numerous a-physical races of different types of creatures of humane, natural and animalistic energy; truths of every religion, philosophy, and even the symbolical and universal truths connected into any dream vision and fleeing thought of a normal human being with their symbolic keys and interpretations; the multiplicity of the soul and the unconditional immortality/conditional mortality of its different principles; laws conducting the birth and rebirth of a consciousness; laws in charge of spiral reproduction, incarnation and paradoxes etc. etc. – In brief, the whole world view of an occultist is so profoundly different compared to a normal mundane human being, his/her aims and conscious mind so vastly differently organized into action, that no other than these totally divergent human cultures from different levels of evolution, can be in interconnection with each other more difficultly than the occult and profane world.
