Quoting a review on Discogs (not my review, the untitled record from 2001)):

"I still don't think all that highly of it now but I've learned to appreciate it. For while this really is in essence a collection of incredibly irritating noises with some guy screaming in the background, as an expression of pure nihilism, helplesness, destruction and entropy - nothing comes closer. If carbon monoxide poison could sing, this is what it would sound like. And I hate to admit it, but (since I'm somewhat of a moody character) there have been times when this release came closest to expressing how I feel (even if I have absolutely no idea what he's screaming about). If you want to hear the aural equivalent of utter despair, of dying in the mud, of slow suffocation, of cold drowning - then this is it."

Ephemeral Dawn is still my farorite though. It was the darkest thing I'd ever heard.

Something else I've probably posted about before. The cinematic composer Graeme Revell was up to some sick stuff in late 70's. He was working in an insane asylum, and became friends with a schizofrenic patient there. They started a band together, called Surgical Penis Klinik. Lacking all healing power of great music, the insane man soon killed himself, and Revell started doing completely different things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1YAEU1gzPo

I keep hearing about the Squid Game. I take it this is the song from the show?

I just purchased the discography of this thrash band from Bangkok, and it's pretty awesome if you place it in the context of what Thailand is like as a country. There isn't a lot of this stuff there, and what's there stays underground for many reasons, including it being pretty culturally taboo to talk out loud about the subjects they touch on. Especially now that there's been so much political unrest in recent years.

And when I'm not listening to this this week, I'm typically listening to the Louvin brothers or 90s eurodance hits. Though my son has just put together a playlist for his DnD group with a lot of Summoning and Mortiis on it, so that's always in the vicinity somewhere and I'm not complaining about it.

It never ceases to amaze me how the rawest of music can make one feel so elevated. Lately I've been listening quite a lot to Ildjarn.

And to balance the primitiveness of Ildjarn, a melodic black metal favorite of mine since my teenage years, Lord Belial's Enter the Moonlight Gate album, and this track especially:

Works well in the darkening autumn moods.

Good ones! My musical taste always goes along with the style I am composing or practicing. Now I am listening organ music like Bach's Toccata and Fugue and Widor's organ pieces, but also Necriphagist - Onset of Putrefaction record.
