What I noticed, the text got more fluent as you begun to describe how you allowed yourself to work in ways that naturally come to you.

I have never thought that using certain or any tools (statues, symbols, whatnot) is bad or necessary. They are merely helpful. I am extremely interested on reading more of your posts, as you have experience on magical traditions that are completely unfamiliar to me on a personal level. Sure, I've read about them, but never practiced. I just don't feel that pull.

I do use tools, or let's say, I really enjoy crafting magical items. They can be clothing, or my Rune set. But I don't feel that any of these are necessary for a successful working. Often it's quite the opposite. I find I can't follow ready-made patters or formulae. Nay, for me following my gut works much better. Sometimes this means doing the exact opposite as one would expect. So I guess a bit similar than what you wrote
