Their "Once Upon a Cross" was a very important album for me when I was young, and I still remember some of its lyrics by heart. It is definately on my top ten list of best death metal albums.

I've been listening to alot of Dan Swano this week (fan girl) in the form of Edge of Sanity's Crimson I and II and a couple Nightingale albums. Such different projects, but I love them both.

Lately I've listened alot of the ambient Burzum tracks from different albums. Dauði Baldrs is a bit all over the place for my taste, but the track Hermoðr á Helferð has such a lovely melody going on and that's what I'm listening now. Sounds like a medieval painting or carving - a bit clumsy but saturated strongly with wonder, myth and meaning.

Burzum has been a stable listening here also, and I have listened to the ambient albums as well as especially Hvis lyset Tar Oss (or in Finnish, Pliis Myy Se Tai Osta).

Listening to these I've been contemplating the concept of "Witch's sleep". It was said that Satan would grant the gift of painless sleep to his faithful servants when they were being burnt alive during the witch hunts.

I just found out that Ostara has released a new album Eclipse of the West. I have liked almost all that I've heard from them thus far and just started listening to this. I don't know yet how it will be with this album.
