I continue with the theme of sin.
There has been a soft spot in me for Turkish Bardic tradition and even though I don't speak Turkish I enjoy Neset Ertas' playing and singing. Haydar is title or another name for Imam Ali.

If English translation is any way near correct I enjoy a lot of this segment:
"Sometimes I ascend to the skies and watch the world
Sometimes I descend to the ground and world watches me
Haydar Haydar, world watches me
The puritan called the wine of this love forbidden
I fill the glass, I drink it. The sin is mine, that's none of their business"

I've been reliving the 90's/my childhood in a different light, once again. Back then, my parents used to listen to Carpenters - it was one of the few things they both liked. Hearing it fills me with nostalgic, graceful sadness. Like I was visiting an old grave on a warm sunday weather. One just got to love the ending of Superstar - it is like a sad and lonely questionmark.

I been quite down for a while. Jinjer's vocalist Tati and her talent and energic stage play has been a source of comfort. Usually I'm not that much into grindcore, but I have enjoyed some Jinjer pieces.

I've often ment to post here something from the Carpenters. My mother listened to it often. The singer is actually also an incredibly good drummer.Ave wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 1:57 pm Carpenters - Superstar

I'm listening to Reverend bizarre's cover of Burzum's Dunkelheit. What excellence!

A friend recommended me the album of two other friends that they have just released. If one wishes to have a return to the spirit of 90's melodic and dark black metal, this recording is the way to go. Makes me think of Covenant's 'In Times Before the Light' album which is an excellent reference point! There is also a hint of old Gehenna here in the mood methinks. Brings to my mind desolate graveyards and secret rituals in the woods.

Today was surprisingly allowing towards black metal in general and I listened to a S.V.E.S.T. compilation 'Coagula (L'Ether du Diable)'. Very interesting lyrics.
Afterwards I had to listen to a love song from Hellenistic world and after that a contemporary arrangement of Pavel Chesnokovs choral work.
"Would to God that all the Lord's people were Prophets”, Numbers 11:29 as echoed by William Blake
Re: What are you listening to at the moment?
You're welcome. I haven't been following the scene for a long time actively but this release is the best one in long time from those that I have heard.
I also need balance in music listening and do this all the time. After listening to black metal I might listen to orthodox choral works for example, and vice versa.
Rome seems to have released new material. Ächtung, Baby with Primordial's Alan Averill was a nice surprise!

The Sonic Youth cover of this is on my regular rotation, but I'm loving this live performance.Ave wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 1:57 pm Carpenters - Superstar
