Your way to wave the right hand

Post by Vanadís »

We talk much about Left Hand Path workings and methods and that is understandable, because Star of Azazel emphazises more on left. But for the fresh ideas and inspiration, I'd like to know if you do any Right Hand Path deeds, workings and action in this world?

My list:

- Helping poor people every single day by making clothes to orphanages in poor countries. I think ACTing is very important even in a small scale, because conscious acts lead your energies and focus toward something. That's why small acts, done very conscious way, every day are important to me. One of the magical formulas I specially like is Stephen Flowers's "Awaken - See - Act".

- I pray every now and then. I pray for people who need help in special situations. I also do magical acts for helping others if needed, but I also lean on god(s)/energies/higher self. I never pray like some of my christian relatives pray "let him get that job / please take away his illness", but I pray that whatever is his Karma, let him understand what is happening at the moment and find some wisdom from it and a way to understand suffering or find a way out of it.

- In the Brotherhood I do common tasks like taking care of the internez & emails and some publications related things. It's a way to share our common cake for keeping the Brotherhood rolling. I also do energetic and spiritual work, like balancing some flows and currents floating in Brotherhood.

A very good topic to ponder.

I'd say generally to aim for politeness, kindness, friendliness and overall good behaviour towards other beings, as well as respect towards any objects, places, etc,(no trashing, trying not to break things, keeping places tidy, etc) is my clearest method to work on the right hand side. Simply: good manners. I wouldn't say I'm too active on helping others, but of course in the moment I give the help I can for whoever needs it. I'm more about trying to do my share decently and maintaining balance. Simple guidelines like not eating/sleeping too little or too much, speaking respectfully (no excessive swearing/cursing, no gossiping, no badmouthing etc.) and facing any situation with as constructive and positive attitude as possible.

I think the most important RHP thing is to show general kindness, goodwill and respect towards others. At least that is one of my guidelines in this life. Also trying to be as honest and truthful as possible. One important aspect in a RHP way is also my mundane job, because it involves helping old people in a bad condition. Many of those are quite lonely, and really need someone to respect them. One important aspect is to try remain calm, happy and loving when you are treated unfairly or disrespectfully. Remember the Sermon of the Mount! ;)

Here also general politeness, good manners and respect towards others, at work and off work. The respect part comes the most challenging... In my security job I encounter alot of disrespect and even hostility towards myself (not to mention violence), even when staying reasonable and calm with my "customers".

As a part of the Stone aspect (outer and exoteric white) I tend to live a RHP oriented lifestyle, even tho my demeanor otherwise screams "Satanist"! (Causes alot of confusion with my traditionally oriented luciferian acquaintances)

Even though SoA is tilted a bit towards the LHP, I find the everyday living by our "tenets" to be a RHP practice. Love, understanding, equality, honesty etc. I also take every chance given to spread a good word about us, to people I suspect would be intrested in learning a bit more. It can't hurt right? Also forgiving/understanding the damage caused by others and discussing karmic impacts (almost wrote car...) is a good way to do little things for a greater good.
(Also, if you can love the knifewielding addict you are hitting with a baton, you are probably doing good...? :? )

I recently joined Luonnonperintösäätiö as a godparent. Luonnonperintösäätiö is a foundation founded by Pentti Linkola. Should have done this much earlier. I make a donation every month.

I'm usually polite, usually have respect towards others, & usually remain calm. Those things come naturally but the skill of being honest and truthful still needs to be improved.

I also feed the birds in winter, haha.

This is a real nice topic and a good conversation. But though I think I understand where you are going with it, I think the (perhaps unintentional) idea of RHP being connected to good manners and charity is a bit problematic.

One of my favourite clips from Twin Peaks is when the rude and obnoxious forensics specialist Albert Rosenfield confronts the town's likable and sympathetic sheriff. Suddenly Albert is the highly idealistic man of peace, and at the same time we realize how low a threshold the sympathetic sheriff has for initiating serious violence:

What I mean to say is, what defines LHP and RHP run so deep that I find this question almost impossible to answer. But in the spirit of the ongoing conversation, I could say that many of my most obvious virtues come effortlessly, and for me it would be harder to forget my manners than to be polite. Then again, some of my most persistent and guilty vices have received most of my moral efforts, and though they might persist in some more or less dwarfed forms, their swords are tied into knots.

So I really think that one cannot detect by my outward conduct where my ultimate spiritual allegiances lie.

I was actually thinking about the mentioned scene in Twin Peaks not too long ago. Unsurprisingly, I really like Twin Peaks but await the third season with mixed feelings.

I guess for me, I also do -or try to do- some of the things people have mentioned here. Perhaps a stark difference is that I've little to no interest towards humanitarian work, but feel strongly about environmental things. I relate to animals and plants more than to people and have only a few humans that I feel close to.

I'm also a godparent of Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation (Luonnonperintösäätiö) and apart from that, a member in a wolf group. I would like to do more on that field, it feels important. I believe psychologically I relate to these animals because of my feeling of being something of an outsider.

I always try to respect people by being honest, even if sometimes it is uncomfortable. I also believe that I've given a lot to some people by listening to their problems and worries. I have the ability to most of the time to understand /& advise others, even if I wouldn't agree with them. Or so I believe.

This kind of question actually rose to my mind immediately, but before getting too stuck with the general question of how to even define RHP/LHP I decided to share the first thoughts that came to my mind anyway. Thank you Obnoxion for your reply, it was an interesting one.

I think this conversation is very interesting exactly because we have, as fra Abhavani pointed out, many first thoughts that came to mind. Such immediate impressions tend to have strong connections to the deep, though such connections might not be the most obvious ones.

I almost decided not to reply because of what mentioned above by obnoxion and Abhavani.

Today at work I realized that I've must learned something relevant about RHP recently. I guess that decent example is when blind hate [towards humanity] turns more into sympathy & empathy.

RHP has also given me more will to act.
