Reading circle (Frances Yates: Giordano Bruno and the Hermetic Tradition)

We are beginning with this classic with sor Polyhymnia. Are there others who would like to join us?

This is often regarded as the first proper scientific work on esotericism. Though the so called Yates thesis (that esotericism was the forerunner of science) is now largely rejected, the book no doubt has a lot of important information for someone like me who is not a specialist in Hermeticism.

Now when we'll have many intense months of reading Jung's Psychology and Alchemy with brother Nayana, on the top of other reading circles, I think I have to pass this one. If possible, I will however try to read the book on my own and make a stray comment here and there, if permitted.

I own the book, and have read about one third of it. Sadly, I am compleyely unable to take any more responsibilities at the moment. It really, really is a very readable and very interesting book, but if I temember correctly, the chapers are longish and tence with information.

I've ordered it, but I don't believe it will be here until mid-end of April. With this crisis it might even take longer, but I did get a notification that it has shipped.

Ok, we´ll wait until the book arrives. Hopefully there will be more people wanting to participate during that time.

After a couple of weeks of not hearing anything, I got an email today saying it has the estimated the of arrival is now mid-May. My apologies on the delay. I thought there might be a delay due to the current state of affairs, but I didn't anticipate it being quite this long. It does allow me to focus on UFIII and other reading groups, though, in the interim.
Again, my apologies!

Didn't even notice this thread until now. It was my initial intention to join this one. I don't have the book yet either and I'm piled with other activities at the moment. So if I do it might be end May or in June.

If we get to begin before that, it is ok for you to join at whatever point it is possible for you!

It has arrived! Whatever I ordered makes me laugh a little. It was the only copy I could find that was available, and it seems to just be a random reprint. I think it may have been printed to order, which is why it took so long to get to me. Either way, I believe it will do the trick! Ready to start when you are, and thank you for your patience.
