Yeah, they killed a gay man. I said I'm not "modern", that means I'm not "woke" or something. I just wanted to promote something super-gay in a positive way. As I said, it makes me feel gay, which feels good.

Today I continued from here on the theme of blue, which has it's tones less grey (like everything else) during this best of seasons we're at the moment going through. Both of these have exceptional male vocals.

Robbie Basho (although I'm more of a fan of folk music coming from the British Isles, and this has a certain kind of American folk tone I'm not a fan of, the vocals make up for it): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYaGChm8RWw

That Basho piece was my lullaby, thank you for sharing.

Today I have been dumbfoundedly elevated by Mütiilation. In a way that feels almost physical. Which is kind of paradoxical considering this very band, but then again it makes sense in some way. I have shunned the drum machines in "later" Mütiilation albums before, but goddamnit how well "Black Millenium (Grimly Reborn)" happens to work for me right now. Also feels like somewhat of a soundtrack for these troubled times.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Diamanda Galas lately while waiting for the arrival of the reissue of Litanies of Satan to my mailbox.

One of my favourites is her Supremes cover:

This weekend I’ve been obsessed with Tom Jones. I love how gaudy this performance of Daughter of Darkness from 1983 is:

Wardruna's Lyfjaberg (Healing-Mountain) has become one of my favorite songs of all time.

I'm listening to Enslaved's Axioma Ethica Odini after a long time. I really liked this when it came out a decade or so ago.

Have you heard the latest offering? I think it’s excellent and have been spending a lot of time listening to it these past couple of weeks. I’ve also been revisiting Depeche Mode, whom I love. Exciter is a highly underrated album.
Freelove is my favourite on this one:

And now I’m certain we don’t have many country and western fans in the forums, but I’ve recently become quite taken with Appalachian folk music, especially when there’s yodelling. I’m wondering if there is a Finnish equivalent someone may know of?

I like country music where the arrangement uses lapsteel well. Some of those Hank 3 songs do it well. Should propably find good older bands who handle that style well.

First thing that came to mind from yodeling is joiku. It's rather from Lappland than from Finland per se and in my understanding traditional to Sami culture.
In this example we have video footage that fittingly associates in my mind to what that sort of easy going lapsteel country music would look like if it would be morphed in the cultural surroundings of rural Finland.
