Sometimes I find music to be an excellent guide for different things. A mood of a song may suggest the mind to fly through certain types of tasks like a surge of water running through a rocky river bed. Today I listened to Jocelyn Pook, who has done genious movie scoring for Eyes Wide Shut. Her record Untold Things, which has more bright tones compared to the darkness of the forementioned movie, ran me through the fragmentary Gospel of Judas with great speed and with it showed me the beauty of damaged texts and the brilliancy of not getting too much caught in details. It is a blessing when the right music happens to come to you on the right moment. I'm quite sure these things work differently for different individuals, and the guide for a same task is found from different music, moods or silences for each practitioner.

And how beautiful they are, the damaged texts. I adore ancient fragments!

This is something I've always really related to, as I often feel that the way I best relate to the world and other people is through sound and the subsequent emotional response to it. Especially while reading spiritual texts, the right music can really make or break my focus and put me in or take me out of the mindset and focus needed for the texts. It really is a beautiful thing when everything aligns. And then there is much to be said for silence as well, which is something I'm learning to appreciate more and more these days. There is never truly silence...

I am watching on TV The Cure - simply the best band in the world - performing at the Flow Festival. And it is awesome. I saw them live a while ago at the Hartwall Arena, Helsinki, and I think that this Flow Festival show is even better.

A couple of my favorite live clips on the tube, which represent beauty and chaos in me, which is made visible in my drawings. I Love them both.

Would you believe The Cure is my favourite band? Has been from the moment I first heard them at the tender age of 15. I listen to so much music these days, but all roads just lead back to The Cure.

Thank you for sharing! I also love that Mazzy Star performance. That Incapacitants was something else!!!!!! Wow. I love noise. Here I thought Merzbow was the end all be all of Japanese noise, and you've opened my eyes!

Amen! The songs just keep sounding better and better, not least because of Robert Smith's voice. Seriously, that voice must be the ninth wonder of the world. By the way, since I posted my original message, I've watched the Flow Festival show on Smart-TV about ten times (plus their Trilogy-dvd once)...

P.S. The Cure is suppose to release a new album this year, and Smith says it will be a darker one, comparing it to "Pornography". So this is almost too good to be true.

I was in a bar with a friend, a rare thing now, and for nostalgia I selected tunes from the jukebox, first The Doors "Riders On The Storm", second Kraftwerk's "Computer Love" and third was something randomly selected from The Cure, I think from "Bloodflowers". The jukebox was supposed to be shut down at 1:30 exactly, even if tunes you payed for hadn't played yet. The long Cure song had just started at that time and the bartender didn't shut down the jukebox . I was sure it was because The Cure was playing.

Polyhymnia, Merzbow is the greatest, but Here's a few that are great too (from Japan): Hijokaidan, C.C.C.C., Government Alpha, Guilty Connector, Hair Stylistics, Hiroshi Hasegawa, KK Null, Dissecting Table...and I'm sure there's more recent ones I don't know, because I've been listening to 90% techno for seven years.
