Thanks for posting Elend, they're really good. To me it sounded like a mixture between the minimalist haunting of
Aghast and the massive wall of sound of
The Angelic Process.
Mayhem –
In the Lies Where Upon you Lay. An obvious example, but I think this song is probably the clearest expression of Nietzschean will in any metal song at least.
Orne –
I was Made Upon Waters.
Yob –
Atma. Doom Metal with an obvious Hindu connection. I guess the vocals are an acquired taste for some, but while I initially disliked the disjointedness of the sound, I soon came to think it flowed quite well.

This last one is curious. I first heard it in a dream, as "music of the gods". That's what it sounded like to me, coming from "above" and there was a really strong and strange feeling of deja vu, the first time i played the album. And no, there was no chance of hearing it beforehand, like on a promo or live.

It's funny you mentioned this now, for it was the last night I was thinking about this same phenomenon, or something very similar to it.
In a few extremely rare cases some music has been "remembered" by me when I hear it, as if it really was present at some former point of my life, in a very deep & thorough way. The feeling is shattering, and will last forever with that particular music: it will always be like a manifestation of some past age I've lived.
This is not to be confused with the lightning flash like memorization of the future moment one can sometimes get, but the process is somewhat different. Rather, the music seems to calibrate itself so perfectly with our inner feelings, astral geometrics in our soul, that these two really merge as one.
A sceptic might say it's only because of some atavistic, mechanical similarities in mind's secret associations, but personally I believe there's more to it than that - although it certainly is one level of the experience. I think there actually exist some common pools of feelings that different people can visit and share something that's usually purely subjective. Drink directly from the source that is some special thought of a god. These kind of feelings are so deep they can never be put to words. Perhaps a shaman might regard them as special spirits, or features in spirit landscape.

I've had a couple of experiences like this too. Firstly when I heard Syyttömänä Kirottu by Mana Mana for the first time. I was 18 or 19 and hungover on a Saturday morning when the post arrived. I literally jumped out of bed and sent my discman flying across the room when the main riff kicked in
.
Secondly was when I discovered Sleep Research Facility. It's actually supposed to be a project to produce minimalistic music to help people sleep, which is how I discovered them. Some of it suceeds for me (Nostromo, Deep Frieze), but Dead Weather Machine is far too interesting. I don't know how to describe its effect on me: perhaps it 'just' unites things I find very comfortable and uncomfortable.

Dissection is one of three bands have influenced my musical taste and career. I also love Watain ( with the exception, I still cannot like the newest album)
About Dimmu Borgir, I like their older stuff like Stormblåst, Enthrone Darkness Truimphant, Spiritual Black Dimensions and Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. Death Cult Armageddon was an ok album, but honestly albums after that are not my cup of tea.

Hetroertzen are probably my favourite black metal band at the moment, both in terms of music and lyrics. Without derailing the thread too much, did you by any chance pick up the Lvxcælis - Slaughtering of the Lamb demo? It sounds like it has the guy from Hetroertzen singing on some tracks, but totally in tune, as opposed to the very loose way he 'sings' in Hetroertzen.

The Perpetual Glow of the Setting Sun: kind of like Hexvessel mixed with Porcupine Tree; in fact the drums and production are handled by the guy who's produced everything Hexvessel have done. I really like the lyrics (which are in the description) as they kind of mix romanticism and occultism.
Wendy Rule –
Prometheus: Deströyer666 covered this track, and it's a pretty good introduction to her music.
