There has arisen some questions and inquiries concerning the political stance of the Star of Azazel, so it may be necessary to clear our point of view in the subject. As we have shortly mentioned in our faq- section, our society's point of departure is completely a-political, and so no political discussions are allowed inside of it. The particular section of life, or influencing it, does not in any way belong into our goals, field of influence and interests.
First and foremost, the reason for this is that we feel the politics of the modern world do not have any kind of higher values, that would be necessary or useful to safeguard, by us particularly. Societies of earlier times were organized in such a fashion, that every field of life from the lesser to the greater were organized in to the foundation of universalism and they guaranteed, with the impulse coming from above and aimed towards it, for every individual and a community a possibility to find ones own place in the world. In modern times all these structures have been long since destroyed or have felt the deadly impact of separation and secularisation, due to which they are either altogether non-existent, or have been degenerated into a state that can be very easily compared to a body in its state of putrefaction, from where the vital spirit has long since disappeared. After the traditional societies collapsed and lost their internal unity, in this time of secularisation, materialism and entertainment, the earlier ability of these superstructures to affect the individual or a collectivity and to orient them in any way to any higher ideals, to transcendence, has in the same time completely vanished. All of this is naturally greatly governed by the laws of necessity and the situation of the great cycles, and to clarify an expected prejudice before its arousement, it is not in our motives to glorify vainly and superficially any kind of a pictoresque golden age, when all was supposed to be well in place.
In a different time, in a different spiritual and societal atmosphere, where the different superstructures would be organized into the service of true spirituality holistically, politics could also be one of the tools with which The Great Work could be possibly carried out externally. In modern times these unifying spiritual factors are completely missing, and there cannot be found any kind of field of action in the world of politics, aside from the purely social, material and mundane aims. Many times it is easily recognizable, how different political leaders are in fact marionettes of different fields of industry and business life, in reality working in the service of them. Even if in modern times there would appear leaders or parties, that would not promise first and foremost material and technological "development", well-being, social betterments and so on, their words would echo to deaf ears, since they would not be "in accordance with modern realities"; of course not, since it seems that the cultivation of true spiritual ideals and the organization of life according to them isn't exactly the main interest of modern realities, in politics or otherwise. Into such a degenerative state have most of the collective organisms been drifted, that the building of defensive walls is also in vain, since the counter-blow of this kind of action would be far too strong, and it would wipe away with it the still remaining potential seeds of spirituality – a thing of which the large devastations of the last century present a very clear proof.
One recognizable phenomena, that we can clearly see influencing the political world in these days, is the accentuated show business like of it. Modern politicians are practically comparable to different celebrities, actors, sports heroes and the like. Often it even seems, that the only ways they can draw the attention of hoi polloi are some sort of personal, sentimental and mediocre reasons; repulsive, un-important and shallow things, because of which they arouse the interest of different entertainment sections of television and newspapers, for example. Any one who strives to adhere to the higher ideals of life can do nothing but follow with utter contempt this kind of celebration of vanity, and the constant trampling down of the sacredness of life.
As it is in so many different things also, inter-connecting spirituality and mundane life - the occult and the profane - is in many cases very difficult, in some cases even impossible, for man cannot serve two internally different masters at the same time. Particularly in modern times – when different collective organisms, one might say the whole "spirit of the age" - because of different social myths and ideologies - has been irrevocably tied into the temporal and the material, contingent elements and circumstances – this is more true than ever. As has been said by us many times before, our main goals do not concern these fields of life, and we are not aiming in any kind of short-term apparent change or betterment of the external world – for any possible changes will follow naturally the inner changes of both individuals and communities in time. Because of these things the only possible stance for any truly individuated being, especially for a one who practices the kind of inner work such as us, is to adopt a wholly dis-interested attitude towards the world of politics.
